Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy describes how Banana Team ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use LumaRead: PDF Reader ("LumaRead" or the "App"), package com.banana.pdfreader.lumaread. It applies to the Android App and the LumaRead legal pages that link to this policy.

LumaRead lets you open, read, organize, annotate, merge, split, compress, save, and share user-selected PDF files. It also supports reading and organizing EPUB files. The App does not require an account.

Privacy at a glance

Information handled on your device

To provide its features, LumaRead accesses or creates the following information locally on your device:

• User-selected documents: PDF and EPUB file content, file name, type, size, location, and Android content URI.
• Library information: collections, favorites, reading status, and document metadata displayed by the App.
• Reading activity: current page or chapter, reading progress, bookmarks, highlights, and notes.
• Preferences: App theme, reader theme, reading mode, typography, margins, keep-screen-awake, auto-hide controls, and selected document folder.
• Generated files: PDFs created by merge, split, or compress operations.
• Imported copies: when Android cannot preserve access to a selected document, LumaRead may copy it into the App's private storage so you can reopen it later.

This information is used only to perform the action you request and provide the App's local library and reading features. It is not transmitted to Banana Team.

File access and sharing

Android document access

LumaRead uses Android's system document picker to let you choose individual PDF or EPUB files and document folders. The App may retain permission to access a selected file or folder so it remains available after you restart the App. You can revoke document access through Android settings, remove an item from the library, or choose a different folder.

Older Android versions

On Android 9 and earlier, LumaRead may use read-only external storage permission to discover supported documents. The current App does not request broad storage permission on newer Android versions.

User-directed sharing

When you choose Open, Save, or Share, Android may send a document to another app or location that you select. Once another app or service receives the file, its own privacy terms apply. LumaRead does not control the recipient you choose.

What we do not collect

The current version of LumaRead does not intentionally transmit to Banana Team:

• your name, email address, phone number, or account information;
• your documents, document contents, file names, notes, highlights, or bookmarks;
• your precise or approximate location;
• contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or health and financial information;
• advertising identifiers or cross-app behavioral data; or
• in-app analytics or usage-event data.

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not share personal information with advertisers or data brokers. A file transfer that you deliberately initiate through Android's share or save interface is directed by you and is not a disclosure to Banana Team.

System backup and device transfer

The current App allows Android's backup and device-transfer features. Depending on your device, Android version, manufacturer, Google Account, and backup settings, Android may back up or transfer eligible internal App data. This may include preferences, the local library database, reading progress, annotations, and App-managed imported copies that fall within Android's backup limits.

Android or the applicable backup provider controls this system-level processing. Banana Team does not operate the backup service and cannot view, retrieve, or delete data in your device backup. You can manage backup and device-transfer settings in Android and your Google Account.

Android, Google Play, and software components

LumaRead uses local software components for document rendering, local storage, and PDF operations. The current App does not include an ad network or developer-operated analytics service. Open-source component licenses remain governed by their respective license terms.

Google Play, Android, your device manufacturer, a backup provider, and apps you choose for opening or sharing files may independently process store, install, security, crash, diagnostic, backup, or file-transfer information under their own terms and privacy policies. For example, see the Google Privacy Policy. Their independent processing is not controlled by this policy.

You control local retention

• Library records, progress, bookmarks, highlights, notes, and settings remain on your device until you delete them, clear the App's storage, or uninstall the App.
• Removing a library entry leaves the original document on your device.
• Generated or exported PDFs remain in the destination you selected until you delete them.
• System backups follow the retention and deletion controls of Android or your backup provider.

Because LumaRead has no user account or developer-operated document database, Banana Team has no server-side document record to retrieve or delete for you. To erase local App data, use Android Settings > Apps > LumaRead > Storage > Clear storage, or uninstall the App.

Security practices

LumaRead reduces remote exposure by processing supported documents and PDF operations locally and by not operating a document-upload service. Access to files selected through Android is limited by the permissions Android grants to the App.

No storage or software system can be guaranteed completely secure. Protect your device with a screen lock, keep Android updated, use trusted apps when sharing, and keep independent backups of important documents before modifying them.

Children's privacy

LumaRead is a general-purpose document reader and is not designed specifically for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us through a support communication, contact us so we can review and delete that communication where applicable.

Your choices and rights

Privacy laws may provide rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of personal information. LumaRead does not maintain an account or server-side file history. You can exercise control over App data directly by editing annotations, removing library entries, revoking file access, clearing App storage, managing Android backup, or uninstalling the App.

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If you contact support, we will use the information in your message to respond and retain it only as reasonably necessary for support, security, recordkeeping, or legal obligations.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when LumaRead's features, data practices, legal requirements, or distribution methods change. We will update the date at the top of this page and, when appropriate, provide notice in the App or store listing. Material changes apply prospectively from their stated effective date.
