Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") form an agreement between you and Banana Team ("we", "us", or "our") regarding LumaRead: PDF Reader ("LumaRead" or the "App"), package com.banana.pdfreader.lumaread. By downloading, installing, or using LumaRead, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree, do not use the App. If you are not legally able to accept these Terms, a parent or legal guardian must review and accept them for you where permitted by law.

What LumaRead provides

LumaRead is a general-purpose Android document reader and library. It supports reading and organizing standard PDF and EPUB files available to your device. It also provides local tools to merge PDFs, split a PDF by page range, and compress PDFs.

Features may vary by document, Android version, device capability, available storage, file permissions, and changes to the App. LumaRead is not a full PDF text editor, scanner, OCR service, electronic-signature service, cloud storage provider, archival system, or digital rights management service.

A limited right to use the App

Subject to these Terms, Banana Team grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable license to install and use LumaRead on Android devices that you own or control, solely for lawful personal, educational, or internal business purposes.

This license does not transfer ownership of the App. You may not sell, rent, sublicense, distribute unauthorized copies, bypass security or licensing controls, or reverse engineer the App except to the extent such a restriction is prohibited by applicable law or allowed by an applicable open-source license.

You remain responsible for your files

You retain any rights you lawfully hold in documents, notes, highlights, and output files that you use or create with LumaRead. We do not claim ownership of your document content.

You are responsible for:

• having the legal right or permission to access, copy, modify, process, save, and share each document;
• complying with copyright, confidentiality, privacy, employment, contractual, and other obligations;
• checking document contents before sharing or relying on them;
• keeping secure and independent backups of important or irreplaceable files; and
• protecting your device and controlling who can access locally stored documents.

Do not use LumaRead to process or distribute content that is unlawful, infringing, malicious, deceptive, or that violates another person's rights.

Merge, split, and compress carefully

PDF operations create new output files and can change document structure, file size, image quality, metadata, links, forms, signatures, accessibility information, or compatibility. Compression in particular may reduce visual quality. Complex, encrypted, malformed, very large, DRM-protected, or unsupported documents may not open or process correctly.

LumaRead does not guarantee that generated documents will be accepted by a court, government agency, school, employer, printer, archive, accessibility tool, e-signature validator, or any other third party.

Local processing and Android services

The current App does not require a LumaRead account and does not upload your documents to a server operated by Banana Team. Reading, annotations, library organization, and supported PDF operations are performed on your device as described in our Privacy Policy.

Android may back up or transfer eligible App data if system backup or device-transfer features are enabled. Apps and destinations you select to open, save, or share files operate under their own terms. You are responsible for reviewing device, backup, and third-party settings that are appropriate for the sensitivity of your documents.

Use LumaRead lawfully

You must not use the App to:

• violate applicable law, regulation, court order, or another person's legal rights;
• infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, or contractual rights;
• create, distribute, or conceal malware, fraudulent documents, or harmful content;
• circumvent DRM, passwords, access controls, security protections, or document restrictions;
• misrepresent the authenticity, origin, approval, signature, or legal status of a document;
• interfere with the App, Google Play, Android, a device, or another service; or
• use the App in a way that could damage, disable, overload, or compromise software or devices.

LumaRead and third-party software

Except for your documents and third-party components, LumaRead's software, design, branding, text, graphics, and related intellectual property are owned by Banana Team or its licensors and are protected by applicable laws.

The App includes open-source and third-party software. Those components remain subject to their own license notices and terms. Nothing in these Terms reduces rights granted to you under an applicable open-source license.

Feedback you voluntarily send may be used to improve LumaRead without payment or obligation to you, provided we do not claim ownership of confidential material or documents you submit. Please do not send confidential files with feedback.

Google Play, Android, and other apps

Your download and use of LumaRead may also be subject to Google Play, Android, device manufacturer, backup provider, and third-party app terms. Banana Team does not control and is not responsible for third-party services, file providers, destinations, content, availability, security, or privacy practices.

Links are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement. You should review the terms and privacy practices of any external service before sending it a document.

Updates and service changes

We may add, modify, suspend, or remove App features; change supported formats or Android versions; issue security or compatibility updates; or discontinue the App. We do not promise that every feature will remain available indefinitely or work on every device or document.

You are responsible for installing updates made available through an authorized store and for exporting or preserving important information before uninstalling or changing devices.

The App is provided as available

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LumaRead is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, security, compatibility, or that files will be preserved without loss or change.

LumaRead does not provide legal, financial, medical, tax, archival, records-management, or professional advice. Reading, annotating, or processing a document with the App does not verify its accuracy, authenticity, legal effect, accessibility, or suitability.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions. In those jurisdictions, the exclusions apply only to the extent permitted by law, and mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Limits of responsibility

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Banana Team and its contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, documents, profits, revenue, business, opportunity, reputation, or device use arising from or related to the App, even if advised that such damage was possible.

Where liability cannot be excluded, Banana Team's total liability for claims relating to the App will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid specifically for LumaRead during the 12 months before the claim or the minimum amount required by applicable law.

These limitations do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or other matters protected by mandatory law.

Ending your use

You may stop using LumaRead at any time and uninstall it. Your license under these Terms ends automatically if you materially violate them. Upon termination, you must stop using unauthorized copies of the App. Provisions that by their nature should survive—including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and applicable law—will survive.

Law and consumer protections

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where Banana Team is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where the law of your country or region requires otherwise. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer protections, statutory guarantees, or rights to bring a claim in a forum that applicable law makes available to you.

Before starting a formal dispute, you are encouraged to contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally. This does not restrict any right or deadline provided by law.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect App changes, legal requirements, or distribution methods. We will update the date at the top of this page and provide additional notice when appropriate. Continued use after updated Terms take effect means you accept them, except where applicable law requires another form of consent.
